The collection’s underlying idea was to create a sofa that resembles a sculpted piece without compromising Noti’s signature timeless expressiveness.
The carefully shaped body of the sofa resting on upholstered legs is a reference to Geta, traditional Japanese footwear.
With the legs withdrawn under the seat, the piece gains lightness and a spatial distance from the floor.
The horizontal lines of all the elements give the sofa a toned-down appearance, whilst emphasising the balance between its sections. The carefully modelled shapes imbue the sofa with a sense of harmonious balance. Its elements appear to be merely resting one on top of the other. The discernible three-way division, the deep seat and the rounded, soft forms invite the user to choose the most perfect spot and position.
Omu is a collection that blends perfectly with cushions, which offers additional seating options. Square cushions make the seating area shorter for a more formal position, while lower back cushions let the user relax more horizontally. Hence, Omu sofas can be easily tailored to different types of spaces.
Each detail of the sofa has been carefully planned, with a focus on the aesthetic qualities equally balanced by functionality and comfort. The smooth transition between the backrest and the inviting open sides creates a perfect place to relax and to socialise.
